GTHOG Corn Roast 2008

Join GTHOG for part or all of the August 22-24 weekend at Scott & Melissa's farm / cottage near Markdale (about 120km from Toronto).

This Corn Roast is the GTHOG social event of the year. Come on out over-night, over two nights, or just for the day. But don't miss this event!

Warning: the farm has a 100 year old barn that you are welcome to explore but, please, absolutely no smoking within 25 metres (that's 75 feet) of it!

Details

Who: GTHOG paid members and their guests. Limited to 50.

What: Join us for any or all of: the ride to the farm, scenic rides, steak & corn dinner, breakfasts, camping, and/or bonfires.

When: Aug 22-24, 2006. To get there, join one of the groups:

  • Group #1 departs Friday, Aug 22, at TBD pm sharp! from the Galaxie Diner (info). Ensure you're ready to go by TBD with an empty bladder, full belly (no dinner is planned for Friday night), and full tank.
  • Group #2 departs Saturday, Aug 23, at TBD am sharp! from the Galaxie Diner (info). Ensure you're ready to go by TBD with an empty bladder, full belly (no dinner planned for Friday night), and full tank.
  • By yourself at any time. Send an email for directions.

Where: Groups #1 and #2 depart from the Galaxie (info). Scott & Melissa's farm is just NW of Markdale, Ontario.

Tickets: $10 (includes a steak dinner, pop, camping, and breakfast) are available at the GTHOG meetings (info).

  • Friday, August 22, 2008:
    • TBD pm: Group #1 departs from the Galaxie Diner (see above).
    • Evening: Help Scott & Melissa set-up for the weekend. Enjoy a bonfire and a beverage (or two or ???). Coke, Diet Coke, Ginger Ale, coffee, OJ and water will be available. Bring your own C2H6O-based beverages.
  • Saturday, August 23, 2008:
    • TBD am: Group #2 departs from the Galaxie Diner (see above).
    • Arrive at the farm, set-up tents, and hang-out.
    • Afternoon: A ride including the spectacular scenery along the Niagara Escarpment and Georgian Bay.
    • After 6:00pm: Feasting at the farm: steak, fresh roasted corn, etc.
    • Evening: Enjoy a bonfire and a beverage (or two or ???). Coke, Diet Coke, Ginger Ale, coffee, OJ and water will be available. Bring your own C2H6O-based beverages.
    • Note: if you drink alcohol, you won't be allowed to ride
  • Sunday, August 24, 2008:
    • Breakfast: Bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns.
    • Morning: Head back to Toronto (or explore the area first then head back).

Accommodations

On-site tent camping at the farm is the preferred option (this allows you to enjoy a wider variety of beverages).

But if you can't or won't camp out, here's some alternatives:
