About GTHOG Policies

Some of the policies below may sound downright unfriendly. For that, we apologize.

But GTHOG is a small organization staffed by unpaid volunteers who work on a best efforts basis for the benefit of our local members.

Our focus is on socializing, riding, and having fun. Not on processing, administering, nor providing fast and full service. We are grateful for and entirely dependent on our unpaid volunteers ... and wish to make their jobs a little easier with the policies below.

Becoming a GTHOG member

You must attend a GTHOG meeting (info) to become a GTHOG member.

Why? HOG requires that we get your witnessed signature on a legal release form and GTHOG requires its $25.00. This is best done in person.

What if I cannot make it to a GTHOG meeting? You might be able to become a GTHOG member at a GTHOG Sunday Ride or other event if you make arrangements with a GTHOG Executive member (email) in advance.

Can I just mail my form and $25 to GTHOG? Sorry, but no. GTHOG is a small local organization staffed by unpaid volunteers for the benefit of the local members. Even if GTHOG had a mailing address (we don't), we currently are not willing to ask an unpaid volunteer to donate more of his/her time to continually check a mail box and to deal with mail payments (depositing cheques, fees for NSF cheques, risks of identity theft if personal accounts are used, etc).

Getting an id for the GTHOG web site

You must be a GTHOG member (membership does have its benefits). Additional details are provided on the GTHOG Sign In page.

GTHOG merchandise

GTHOG merchandise is available at many (but not all) GTHOG meetings. Merchandise purchasing, storage, transport, and sales is handled by an unpaid volunteer who may not be able to attend all meetings. Since GTHOG is not able to invest a lot of its scarce money in inventory, availability and selection of GTHOG merchandise may often be limited.

Can I buy GTHOG merchandise by mail? Sorry, but no. GTHOG is a small local organization staffed by unpaid volunteers for the benefit of the local members. We currently are not willing to ask an unpaid volunteer to donate more of his/her time to package and mail parcels nor process payments (depositing cheques, fees for NSF cheques, risks of identity theft if personal accounts are used, etc).

Exchanging GTHOG merchandise

GTHOG does not participate in pin or t-shirt exchanges.

Why? GTHOG doesn't have many (or sometimes any) pins or t-shirts to exchange ... and, frankly, we wouldn't know what to do with the pin or t-shirt we receive from your Chapter.

Can you hook me up with a GTHOG member willing to exchange? We prefer not to but will if you insist. We will warn members that not all offers received via the Internet are legitimate and about identity theft risks.
